Glossary of Terms
Here are explanations of some of the words you can find on my website and in my articles.
Actual Death Experience (ADE)
These are very similar to 'Near Death Experiences' (NDE's) except that the person is clinically dead while it happens and is somehow brought back. About 10% of people recovering from a cardiac arrest report these experiences (Greyson, B, 2003). People typically report moving towards light into some kind of garden surrounded by dead loved ones and/or angels before they are sent back, and feelings of intense love and compassion.
This is a term used to describe the purest expression of you. First it needs to be truth and not a deception. Then it needs to be free of manipulation, not seeking to control the situation. It also supports the truth of others without harming them or ourselves. Of course, this can be difficult and often discernment and compromise is needed. Aligned expression can come in many forms, including movement, artistic expression, asking a question or just staying silent. We used the word 'aligned' because it is seen to be aligned with your highest truth and therefore your soul, and also that of others. See also 'distorted expression'
These are expressions of you which are not aligned with your or others highest good. They are usually caused by our conditioning (often from childhood and adolescence) where we have developed a fixed coping strategy in response to a situation, because we have become identified with it. See also 'Aligned expression'
The 'heart centre'
This does not refer to the physical location of the heart, but more of an inner place or a state of being. It is a state of compassion and love, which accepts all things as they are. It see's the wonder and magic of life.
There is often disagreement over what Karma truly means. My perspective is that it's a tool that the universe uses to show us where we are stuck or identifying with something that is not who we are on a higher level (soul). It is played out through the 'law of attraction' and may manifest in any number of ways (it doesn't have to be the same as the original cause of identification). For example, someone who may have lost a child in this life or a previous one, may have to work with releasing attachment to another child when they leave home.
Law of Attraction
For the spiritual mainstream the law of attraction seems to be all about manifesting your desires. But what do these desires ultimately give you except a conditioning to be someone who desires things. Who is desiring? My point of view is that the law of attraction simply draws whatever we need for our evolution to us, to show us where we are stuck or identified, and therefore to release Karma. So, someone who is fixed on manifesting their desires, will ultimately draw more desires to them.
Near Death Experience (NDE)
Very similar to an 'Actual Death Experience' (ADE) except that the person is not clinically dead when it happens. It can happen for example under situations of extreme stress. People typically report moving towards light into some kind of garden surrounded by dead loved ones and/or angels before they are sent back, and feelings of intense love and compassion.
The 'Observer'/Witness consciousness
A state of consciousness that observes all that happens inside without judgement or labeling. It is beyond the mind. See article: The Observer
This is the term used to describe the universal energy of 'pure potential' that works in the background and connects all things. Some call it God, Great Spirit, Allah or Brahman to name a few. It is able to be felt by us as it exists inside of us. We are individual expressions of this 'oneness' (see 'Soul').
Reiki is a 'laying of the hands' healing system. A practitioner can channel universal energy through hands (they can touch a person or simply hover above). It is used to enhance a persons own ability to heal themselves. A practitioner never diagnoses a person, but can feel energy blockages in a persons field. It is also possible to do this on a 'distance healing' basis as it is not confined to the physical plane and therefore the patient does not physically need to be there.
The soul is simply an individual expression of 'oneness'. When we get in touch with who we truly are and express that then we are aligning with our soul. The soul is a bit like an anchor point, while who we are other densities can change, the soul is, in a way fixed. However, it can also change in a way that it can split itself up or merge with other souls.
The pain and suffering that we experience is often layered. First we look at the outer cause of our suffering and then the inner cause - our behavioural patterns, emotional attachments and psychological conditioning. The source pain is the final layer to be reached beyond these. It is often related to some kind of existential pain which comes about simply through our experience of being human. Once this pain is released we often experience intense waves of inner peace and 'life energy'.
